These myths and many more have contributed to the massive decline in Shark populations. 50 years ago, our waters around the island were “shark infested”. Nowadays, we are very lucky if we get to see one of these amazing creatures.
They are a critical element to the health and balance of the marine ecosystem, due to being an apex predator and their role in keeping a balance in their environment. Take the PADI Shark Conservation Course and protect sharks.
In the Shark Conservation Course, you will learn why sharks are threatened by human impacts and their conservation status as listed by the IUCN.
You will learn basic knowledge of Shark Identification and what value they provide to the ocean and us.
You will also learn how to dive safely and interact responsibly with Sharks, and the actions that can be taken to protect these amazing creatures.
SHARK CONSERVATION COURSE SCHEDULE
Day 1 - Shark Conservation Diver
AM – Shark Conservation Academics with your Marine Conservation Instructor
PM – Head out on 2 dives to study the shark environment, look for sharks and study them responsibly, looking at hazards underwater and on the surface that can cause harm to Sharks.
PREREQUISITES
Before beginning any of the PADI Shark Conservation Course, we need you to be a minimum PADI Open Water Diver.
Why? Before you start to learn about Sharks its a basic requirement that you need to be able to scuba dive.
If you do not have this certification, you can take the PADI Open Water Course before you start your Shark Conservation Course.
The PADI Open Water Course will teach you the necessary skills to be able to scuba dive to a maximum of 18metres.
